Mechanical Engineering

The degree course in Mechanical Engineering was started in 2010. The Department is fully equipped to meet the requirements of B. Tech course as per curriculum of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal. It has qualified and experienced faculty and staff of the many engineering disciplines, Mechanical Engineering is an interdisciplinary, challenging, rewarding, and highly respected profession. Its principles are involved in the design, study, development and construction of nearly all of the physical devices and systems. Mechanical engineers are employed in an enormous range of technical areas including: acoustics, air-conditioning, automatic controls, computer-aided design, energy management, fluid dynamics, tribology, robotics, biomechanics and turbo machinery etc. Dr. Tarun Kanti Pal is presently acting as the head of the Department. Initially, this Department is NBA accrediated from July 2016-June 2019. This Department is further accrediated from July 2019-June 2022.

PG in Mechatronics: The department is offering AICTE approved, two year (four semester) Post Graduate Programmes in mechatronics engineering under Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT, formerly West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), started in the academic year 2022-23. Mechatronics is an emerging and multi-disciplinary study dealing with the integration of mechanical devices, actuators, sensors, electronics, intelligent controllers and computers. Mechatronics engineers design, develop and test a broad range of automated machines from industrial systems, artificial intelligence and medical equipment, to consumer products. The program is designed to provide in-depth knowledge in the fundamentals, design, analysis and operation of mechatronic systems. An eligibility criterion to take admission is B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent from a recognized University/Institution in the area of Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Instrumentation and Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Better employability and promoting a culture of research in the field of Mechanical Engineering

To impart quality education to the students and enhance their knowledge, skills and attitude to make them technically competent mechanical engineers.

To enhance employability of students in industry, educational and research organizations in India as well as abroad by the method of continuous evaluation and improvement.

Programme Educational Objectives

PEO-1: To become students to be successful mechanical engineers in their professions in global environment.

PEO-2: To become able to apply engineering principles with an ability to adapt the changes in latest tools in the design, analysis and synthesis of engineering system.

PEO-3: To make students competence in communication skill, able to work in team, demonstrate high moral values with the ability to pursue life long learning.
