The Department started since the inception of the college in 1998 with one undergraduate programme in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering for imparting quality technical education to meet the growing needs of quality manpower due to the industrial boom after opening up of Indian economy in early 90’s. Another undergraduate programme in Electronics & Communication Engineering was added in the year 2003. The present student strength of the dept. is around 500. The major areas of research include ASIC Design, Digital Signal Processing, Data Communications & Networking, Mobile and Wireless communications, VLSI & Microelectronics, Microwave, MEMS & Nanotechnology, Semiconductor devices, Industrial Instrumentation, Microprocessors & Microcontrollers, Process control & Biomedical instrumentation,Optical Communication etc. Over the years, the dept. has built up 23 different laboratories in the areas of electronics, instrumentation, communication, microprocessor and microwave. Dept. has also built up a library with a good number of collections.
